Geothermal Loop Systems

The geothermal loop system is a series of pipes located beneath the earth's surface that draw upon a natural water source (open loop system) or contain an antifreeze solution (closed loop system). The water within these pipes is heated by the earth's natural heat and sent to a Geothermal Heat Pump. (This natural heat is constant and located just below the earth's surface. It comes from the decay of radioactive minerals from the earth's formation as well as solar energy absorbed into the earth's surface).

Geothermal Heat Pumps

The geothermal heat pump extracts heat energy from the "earth-heated" water within the loop system in order to pump warm air into a residential or commercial structure. At the same time, a Geothermal Heat System extracts cold air from the same structure.

Geothermal Cooling

A Geothermal Cooling System is simply a geothermal heating system operating in reverse! The energy used for pumping warm air simply pumps cool air while warm air is extracted from the home, office or building.

American Recovery Act of 2009

Certain energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, such as a Geothermal Heating and Cooling Unit may qualify tax payers for up to a 30% Tax Credit (with a $1500 maximum) on the cost of their Geothermal Heating and Air Conditioning System and installation costs.
